"I have been a fan of Son Of Ugly for some time now. Occidental Tourist has been one of my favourites to hear live. When the opportunity came to do a remix of one of their songs, I knew where I wanted to go with it straight away.
I wanted to maintain their Eastern/Western influences, and my electronic influences.
I re-giggled a 7/4 bouzouki sample from the song into 4/4 and added some organic-sounding synths.
I was heavily influenced by recent ambient music at the time.
I made the pads by resampling a mandolin and layered it with a percussive pluck.
Out of the remix I tried to recreate Son Of Ugly’s original idea in another alternate setting, whilst keeping their tasty multi-genre marmalade in the mixture."
